EXTRA CURRICULAR

Music

K-8th Grade

“Worship the Lord with gladness; come before him with joyful songs” (Psalm 100:2). ILS offers various choral and band options for our students from Pre-K through 8th grade. With Concert Choir, Bells, Beginning Band, and Concert Band, students love worshiping the Lord and singing His praise. These groups often perform at Immanuel concerts and worship services.

For more information, please contact Ms. Jenna Fredrickson.

Musical Arts

6th - 8th Grade

During the second semester, students will have the opportunity to learn and apply the art of singing, dancing, and acting in the process of putting on a musical production. Past performances include The Lion King, Peter Pan, Mary Poppins, Annie, and Aladdin. There will be a year-end performance in May. For more information please contact Ms. Jenna Fredrickson.

Scholar Bowl

6th-8th Grade

ILS students put their noggin' to the test at our Academic Bowl competitions. Students compete in teams to answer questions about math, science, social studies, religion, sports, literature, movies, and other subjects. Visit the Scholar Bowl team page for current stats.

For more information, please contact Coach Rich Wuebbels

Coding

6th-8th Grade

Students are introduced to coding in a team sport environment. The structured regular season introduces coding concepts in a project-based learning environment. Each week, students apply the new coding concept to a project they are scored on, competing against themselves and other coders and teams across the league on the leaderboards. In the competitive postseason series, students build group projects that enter rounds of virtual competition with big prizes on the line, while outfitted in YCL team jerseys.

For more information, please contact Mr. Rich Wuebbels.

Robotics

5th-8th Grade

This team teaches valuable skills in science and technology and stimulates critical thinking. Using simple machines, computer programing, and Legos (R), the robotics team builds devices that help solve real-world problems.

For more information, please contact Mr. Rich Wuebbels.

Student Council

6th - 8th Grade

Student Council meets about once a month throughout the school year. We typically do a fundraiser or two, help with some school activities, plan the middle school dance, and other fun activities. It's a great learning opportunity, and a great way for kids to serve their fellow students and their school. Stu Co members are not elected so any middle school student in good academic standing can join. This body elects it's own officers (President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer) who run the meetings with the guidance of the faculty sponsors. For more information, please contact Mr. Rich Wuebbels or Ms. Jenna Rose Backs
